Simple Syrup: In small saucepan, bring sugar and 1 cup (250 mL) water to boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat; let cool for 20 minutes. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Pour boiling water over tea bags in heat-resistant pitcher; steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Add 2 cups (500 mL) cold water. Remove tea bags. Stir in simple syrup.
Serve in tall glasses filled with ice.
